PSG have reportedly slapped a €200m price tag on their winger Kylian Mbappe as some of Europe’s elite teams, including the Merseyside giants, consider making their move. Only four teams in world football would be able to afford him: Liverpool, Real Madrid, Man City and Juventus.
France international has been back in the headlines this week after scoring a sensational UCL hat-trick for his side in a stunning 4-1 victory over Barcelona at the Nou Camp. With Kylian’s current deal with the Parisians ready to expire at the end of the next campaign, his long-term future is far from certain.
And there is speculation Ligue 1 giants would consider letting Mbappe go in a mega-money deal this summer in order to allow them to bring in Blaugrana superstar Lionel Messi. In order to do so, it looks they would require a bid that would make it one of the most expensive transfer deals of all time.
The Merseyside giants are known to be long-term admirers of the 22-year-old winger, with the German boss a huge fan of the footballer. And while Man City’s interest has not been as strong, there is surely no doubt they would be monitoring the situation if the French superstar does become available.
There is the prospect of a transfer tug-of-war taking place over the summer, and it will be intriguing to see how things develop from here as the World Cup-winning forward continues to stake his claim as arguably the natural heir to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s position as the best footballer in the world.
