Liverpool in the battle to sign 22-year-old Italian attacker

If Liverpool want to dominate English and European football, they must progress, and that means adding new faces to rejuvenate the team. Otherwise, the Merseyside club is the risk of going stale. Reds have been linked with several footballers, including Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa.

Liverpool are ready to challenge Inter Milan and Juventus for the 22-year-old forward’s signature. It’s rare that you will find a winger that is comfortable in several positions, but that is the case in regards to Federico. He is primarily a right-winger, but he has played several matches on the left-wing and as a second striker as well.

As it stands, the German tactician does not have a whole lot of cover upfront for Sadio Mane, Bobby Firmino and Mo Salah. Divock Origi appears to be the alternative for the former two if need be, while Xherdan Shaqiri would usually be available to replace Egypt international.

However, his injury woes this term have meant that Salah has had to feature non-stop, he has missed only two games in the Premier League and Champions League, despite him having struggled with an ankle injury. Now, the Swiss attacker has been linked with a move to Galatasaray.

Currently valued at £54m, Chiesa will not come cheap, but he would be a fantastic option to cover several positions and, considering he is just 22, he could one day become the first choice if any of that star trio were to leave. Italy international helped his national team to get the Euro 2020 ticket.
