Liverpool have reportedly started discussions with Sporting Lisbon over a summer agreement for star Bruno Fernandes.
The 23-year-old has been one of Sporting’s star footballers this campaign, netting 13 goals and making 18 assists in all tournaments so far.
Despite having been capped just four times for Portugal, He is believed to be strongly in contention to secure a spot in Fernando Santos’s squad for the World Cup this summer.
According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Liverpool have been watching Fernandes’s development this campaign and have been impressed with his displays in the Europa League.
The story goes on to claim that Anfield officials have been meeting with the player’s officials to discuss a possible; transfer to Anfield this summer.
The midfielder is in his first campaign at Sporting, having moved in a £7m deal from Sampdoria last summer.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are trying to steal Liverpool’s move for Nice star Jean-Michael Seri.
The Reds have been heavily linked with the 26-year-old Ivory Coast international, considered a possible replacement for Emre Can who looks set to leave at the end of the campaign.
Liverpool are believed to have been impressed by Seri’s displays since he arrived at Nice in 2015, racking up 97 Ligue 1 appearances.
However now, according to L’Equipe, Chelsea are also pushing hard to sign the midfielder and have already enquired with Nice about a summer move.
It has also been claimed that Seri and Nice have an unwritten agreement that will permit him to leave should any club make an offer worth £35million.
The Gunners, Tottenham and Manchester United have also been linked with Seri in the past, while a move to Barcelona fell through during the summer.
However, it now appears as though Chelsea and Liverpool will battle it out for his services in the coming months.
