Liverpool and Man Utd reportedly look to have been handed a transfer boost regarding Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly. Liverpool and Man United are among the suitors for Senegal international, who may now be free to leave Napoli this summer.
Despite Koulibaly long being a star footballer for the Naples outfit, it seems the covid pandemic has persuaded the club that it might be time to cash in on him for the right price, particularly if the footballer himself wants to move on.
Kalidou is also said to be keen on a move to the PL, according to the report, so that could be a big chance for Liverpool and Man United. It’s been a difficult campaign at Theatre of Dreams as the Norwegian manager’s side have been incredibly inconsistent and missed out on what looked like a good chance to challenge for the title.
A signing like the 29-year-old centre-back could represent an important upgrade on Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof, giving the Red Devils a better opportunity of improving the next campaign. It’s also been a frustrating season for Liverpool, who have had plenty of injury problems in defence in recent months.
Virgil van Dijk ended up missing the vast majority of the campaign, while Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have both continued to be rather injury-prone. The Senegalese defender could be a fine signing to give the Reds more depth in that department and help them become serious title contenders again next campaign.
The Merseyside giants need to change something in their squad this summer, as they suffered a huge dip in form after running away with the title last campaign.
