Liverpool in pole position to sign 20-year-old La Liga forward

Martin Odegaard is the subject of interest from several Premier League clubs including Reds. Norway international is currently impressing during his two-year loan spell at La Liga club Real Sociedad. Since joining the club in the summer, he has scored two goals and picked up the league’s Player of the Month award for September.

Martin was once the most sort after signature in football. He had burst on to the scene at 15 while playing for Stromsgodset in his home country. Merseyside club made no secret of their attempts to convince Odegaard to come to Liverpool.

He was even invited to train with the club at Melwood. The 20-year-old forward eventually opted for Spanish club Real Madrid, signing for the Los Blancos for £3m in 2015. However, since he arrived in La Liga, the Norwegian star has failed to live up to the hype.

La Liga giants have shipped him out on multiple loans where he hasn’t correctly set the world alight, until now. Martin is earning plaudits for his performances for Real Sociedad and wants to complete his two-year loan before returning to the Madrid to fight for his place.

Los Blancos don’t share this plan and will look to cash in by selling the attacker. If Odegaard does become available, you would imagine there would be a long line for a young, talented and improving player such as him. Reds are still in the market for another winger and could well be at the front of the queue when bidding begins on the Norwegian.
