Liverpool are in the battle with Chelsea and Man United to sign Jadon Sancho this summer, according to reports in Germany. England international was Red Devils top target last summer but the Norwegian coach’s side were unable to reach a deal with Borussia Dortmund, who were demanding in excess of £100m for the winger.
Bundesliga giants are again willing to sell Jadon this summer, however, the German club have now set a €100m asking price. The report also claims that the Red Devils face increased competition for Sancho as both Chelsea and Liverpool are also interested in a deal at the end of the campaign.
Speaking at the weekend, BVB’s sporting director Michael Zorc has revealed that the club have a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ with the 21-year-old winger which allows him to leave this summer. ‘We already had a gentlemen’s agreement with Jadon last year that he can switch under certain conditions,’ Zorc said.
‘He’s been with us for a couple of years. However, this agreement does not exist with Erling Haaland.’ Meanwhile, the Norwegian manager has warned his Red Devils footballers that they should expect new signings to immediately challenge for a first-team place.
‘We are always looking for improvement, always looking at every department. And if there are players that come in and challenge them or take their place, then that’s great,’ said the Norwegian boss. ‘I have felt that myself at Man United and that is the way it has to be here.’
‘We sign players to challenge the ones we have here already and if you don’t step up, players will take your place. That fear of losing your position has to be there.’
