Tottenham Hotspur are ready to face new contest from Liverpool in pursuit of Mikkel Damsgaard. The Sampdoria winger has become a subject of interest from several teams around Europe following his displays for Denmark at UEFA Euro 2020.
Milan and Juventus have also expressed their desire to sign Denmark international this summer. However, the Blucerchiati president Massimo Ferrero is hoping to sell Damsgaard to a Premier League club, as he believes English teams can easily meet his €30m demands.
In addition to Liverpool and Tottenham, Everton, Leeds United, and Leicester City are among the other English clubs interested in Mikkel, who has become an overnight star for Denmark, thanks to his displays in Euro 2020.
The 21-year-old forward has had success at the club football level as well, notching up 35 league games in his first campaign at Sampdoria in 2020/21. The Danish winger was only involved in six goals, but the attacker made quite an impression with his dynamism and set-piece prowess.
Spurs have been interested in Mikkel for a long time due to his potential. There is no secret that the Lilywhites are bracing themselves for a possible attacking overhaul as they prepare for life without Harry Kane, whereas Gareth Bale has returned to Real Madrid as well.
Mikkel could be an ideal option to complement Giovani Lo Celso and Son Heung-min in the new-look Spurs front-line. Damsgaard can effortlessly slot in as a wing-back in Nuno Espirito Santo’s favoured 3-4-3 formation. However, the Reds joining the battle in pursuit of the Sampdoria winger does not bode all too well for the Spurs.
