Liverpool enter the battle for 24-year-old Germany international

Hoffenheim are facing a battle to keep hold of their star footballers in the summer, with David Raum emerging as one of the targets for many English teams, including West Ham United and Liverpool. Germany international is said to be available for a fee of only €30m this summer.

Bundesliga giants are already braced to lose Christoph Baumgartner in the summer amid interest from Liverpool and Man United. Formerly of Greuther Furth, David had initially joined Hoffenheim last summer.

Raum was signed on the back of an impressive campaign in 2. Bundesliga that saw him bag 15 assists, helping Furth get promoted to the top-flight. It was a tall ask for the 24-year-old defender to replicate his displays in the Bundesliga.

But after a slow start, the German defender has picked up the pace brilliant and has been an asset to Hoeness’ setup, offering consistent attacking support, width and creativity down the flanks. The results have been there for all to see, with the German bagging 13 assists in the Bundesliga this term.

His displays have even made him a crucial asset for the national team under Hansi Flick, with many expecting him to become the national team’s first-choice defender in the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

However, it stays to be seen whether Liverpool will be keen on splashing €30m on a left-back, especially given the fact that they already boast the services of Robertson and Tsimikas, with the latter more than qualified to serve as a backup in years to come.
