Liverpool closely monitoring 22-year-old African striker

Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal are all reportedly chasing the transfer of RB Salzburg centre-forward Patson Daka. Zambia international is starting to look like a serious talent after a stunning recent scoring record, with a whopping 23 goals in only 19 league matches this campaign.

In total, Patson has 30 goals in 32 games in all tournaments this campaign and it’s a little surprise the report are linking the likes of Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal with the striker as a potential alternative to Erling Haaland.

All three clubs could do with bolstering up front this summer, with the Reds struggling after a dip in form from Roberto Firmino in particular. Liverpool surely need something different up front as clubs have become used to their front three, and Daka is clearly far more of a goal threat than Firmino.

United, meanwhile, have also lacked goals as the likes of Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood have not been as prolific as last campaign, with Bruno Fernandes their main source of goals this term. However, that clubs may have to move quickly for the 22-year-old as his £17m price tag is likely to rise if he maintains his stunning scoring form.

Arsenal, meanwhile, could also do with signing the Zambian striker as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang no longer looks at his best, while Alexandre Lacazette has never been the most prolific player either.

Although he is under contract until 2024, the African striker’s goalscoring form has reportedly made him a subject of transfer interest from several European clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Everton in the PL.
