The Merseyside giants are reportedly in the driver’s seat to sign Jude Bellingham next summer, with Man United set to look elsewhere. A product of the Birmingham City youth academy, England international is currently one of the most in-demand prospects in Europe, with PL teams ready to bring him back to England next summer.
Liverpool and Man United were among the teams leading the chase to sign Bellingham, but Man United have now set their sights on Kalvin Phillips. It will be a massive boost for the Reds, who are in the market for a new midfielder that can add some flair.
Liverpool have faced criticism for their overreliance on ageing stars recently, with current options like Thiago, Jordan Henderson and Milner all being 30 or older. The Reds have recently been linked with a move for Franck Kessie, another one of Man United’s targets, with the footballer himself seemingly keen on playing in England.
The Ivorian midfielder’s current deal at San Siro expires at the end of the campaign, making him a far more cost-effective alternative in the market. However, Jude’s status of being arguably the most talented English footballer of his age alone is enough to make him an appealing target for any PL team.
The Reds do have the advantage as the Englishman is a huge fan of Steven Gerrard, though recent reports do suggest that the German manager is having second thoughts about raiding his former club Borussia Dortmund.
