The Merseyside giants are reportedly the frontrunners to sign Ismaila Sarr, but Watford have slapped a £40m price tag on the winger. Senegal international is attracting many transfer interest this summer following Hornets’ relegation from the PL, but Watford are determined not to let the winger go on the cheap.
Hornets paid £30m for Ismaila last year and London club will demand £40m for his services this summer. Crystal Palace and Wolves are also vying for Sarr’s signature, but the Merseyside giants have emerged as the leading candidates to land the winger.
Liverpool, however, are not expected to sanction any big-money moves and have already run into issues with transfer fees. Reds hoped to sign Norwich’s Jamal Lewis on the cheap but failed to come to terms with Norwich City, who wanted nearly £20m for the full-back and signed Olympiakos left-back Kostas Tsimikas instead.
Hornets are under no pressure to offload all their star footballers after relegation and Richarlison’s £30m switch to Everton stands as club’s record sale. Hornets are in a strong position to stand firm on their asking price considering the 22-year-old winger has four years left on his deal.
The Senegalese winger is keen on a move to Liverpool, but would also be open to joining any club in the top six. Sadio Mane would be a big attraction for Sarr, who is the winger’s hero and his international team-mate. Reds are on the hunt for more options up front and an attacker capable of filling in for the likes of Mane and Mo Salah.
