Merseyside club could reportedly move for a new midfielder in the winter transfer window due to the recent injury suffered by Fabinho. Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp could now consider stepping up efforts to sign impressive young Genk midfielder Sander Berge.
Norway international has impressed in the Champions League this campaign and looks like he could be an excellent signing for a bigger club soon. Sander’s impressive performances have also seen him linked as a transfer target for Chelsea. Frank Lampard also wants to strengthen the midfield, and there will be a battle for the footballer.
Berge would likely cost nearly £18m, which could end up being a bargain for this big prospect for the future. The 21-year-old player has vast potential and can become a top-class midfielder if he continuous improvement. Norwegian midfielder is a regular member of the national team squad which is already a big success for the footballer.
The report states Fabinho could be out of action for the Reds until after the New Year, so this could be a sensible move for the Merseyside club to replace an important figure and make sure they don’t risk surrendering their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
Liverpool are currently eight points clear of second-placed Leicester City, but perhaps more crucially have an eleven-point lead over last season’s champions Man City. Jurgen will surely not want to take any risks between now and May, and that could mean spending that little bit extra to make sure Fabinho isn’t too badly missed while he’s out.
