Ligue 1 giants keen on signing £300,000-a-week Man United star

PSG are prepared to test the waters with an opening bid for Man United midfielder Paul Pogba and are confident an offer of only £43m could be enough to persuade the PL club to sell the footballer.

The Parisians are embarking on an ambitious summer recruitment drive following a disappointing 2020/21 season which saw Mauricio Pochettino’s side surrender the Ligue 1 title to Lille and exit the UCL at the semi-final stage.

Ligue 1 giants then suffered the embarrassment of watching the German manager, sacked earlier in the campaign, guide Chelsea to European glory before being forced to deny Mauricio Pochettino was considering his future amid interest from his old club Tottenham.

The Argentine manager has now signed a one-year extension and is hoping to oversee a major rebuilding project which has already begun in earnest following the arrivals of Achraf Hakimi, defender Sergio Ramos and shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Parisians will now turn their attention to Paul who has just a year remaining on his current Man United contract and has shown little sign of agreeing on an extension.

The Red Devils spent a club-record £89.3m on Paul Pogba to bring him back from Juventus four years ago, but his second stint at the Theatre of Dreams has been something of a mixed bag, characterised by moments of brilliance, lengthy absences through injury and a spectacular fallout with Jose Mourinho.

Last campaign’s PL runners-up are now facing the prospect of selling France international for less than half of what they spent on him and have been scouring the market for replacements.
