Ligue 1 club are close to signing £90,000-a-week Arsenal centre-back

Gunners coach Unai Emery has heavily hinted that Laurent Koscielny is heading towards an exit from the club. The London club stated on their official website that France international refused to travel with the rest of the squad for the pre-season friendlies. Arsenal won friendly matches against Fiorentina and Bayern Munich this summer.

Laurent has been linked to come back to France with Ligue 1 clubs Bordeaux and Rennes being the clubs he has been linked to. Koscielny has agreed on a contract with Rennes, while Bordeaux coach Paulo Sousa has confirmed the club’s interest in the footballer.

Following the International Champions Cup defeat to Real Madrid, Gunners manager Unai hinted that Frenchman could leave the club. Speaking to the Arsenal’s official website, the Spaniard said: “I tried to continue working and finding one solution between the club, between him and us.

When he decided not to come here with us on tour, the solution is now only for the club and him. The 33-year-old defender has proven himself to be a London club legend, having been here for nearly a decade. The French centre-back has made 353 appearances for Arsenal with 25 goals to his name.

Amid missing most of the last campaign due to an injury he sustained the campaign before, Laurent captained Gunners to the Europa League final with some strong performances in the tournament. The fact that the Frenchman refused to travel with the team to the US does suggest that Koscielny is not too eager to continue with Gunners.
