Leicester City manager has reportedly identified Gunners defender Kieran Tierney as a replacement for Ben Chilwell, should the left-back leave King Power Stadium this summer. Rodgers is a big admirer of Scotland international whom he worked with during his days as the Celtic boss and is hopeful he could lure him away from Arsenal.
Kieran’s time at Emirates hasn’t quite gone to plan thus far. Bought for £25m last summer, Tierney has struggled with injury and failed to show his best form. Bukayo Saka had been deployed at left-back in recent months, but the Gunners manager is thought to want to move him further forwards next campaign.
Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen on signing Ajax star Nicolas Tagliafico as his first-choice left-back, which could leave the door wide open for the 22-year-old defender to leave. Ben Chilwell has told Brendan he is keen to move to Chelsea and Rodgers would love a reunion with the Scottish player, should his current left-back move to Chelsea.
Indeed, Brendan was braced to lose Ben with Chelsea and Man City circling last summer and hoped to sign Kieran for Leicester City a year ago. Neither move materialised, with Tierney moving to Gunners instead, but Brendan may look to resurrect a deal this summer.
He made a slow start to life with Arsenal as he recovered from a hernia operation following his £25m move. He made eight appearances including four starts under former Gunners manager Unai Emery. The 22-year-old defender then dislocated his shoulder and has not yet played under Mikel Arteta.
