La Liga giants in the hunt for 23-year-old Liverpool long-term target

Real Madrid are among the teams set to move for Liverpool transfer target Fabian Ruiz, Napoli midfielder’s agent has confirmed. Spain international has impressed since leaving Real Betis for Serie A in 2018 and has been widely tipped to leave the Italian giants in the summer.

The Reds are thought to be in the hunt to land him, along with Los Blancos and their bitter La Liga rivals Barcelona, while Bayern Munich and Man United have been impressed by his displays.

And Fabian’s agent Alvaro Torres confirmed he had informed Napoli of interest from Real in signing his client, who has scored two goals and provided two assists in Serie A this campaign, as he hinted at a summer move. ‘It’s obvious that there are many important clubs that have asked about him, he has spent three years at a high level,’ Torres said.

‘Yes, Real has indeed shown interest, we told Napoli.’ Ruiz’s versatility is also a valuable asset he can operate effectively as a central midfielder or in more advanced or defensive roles. Given his prior experience of La Liga, he could be a useful option as Zizou seems to ensure that his squad is in good shape going into the next campaign.

The 23-year-old midfielder played 59 games for Betis and also gained experience on loan at Elche before sealing his switch to Napoli. Part of the Spain side that won the Under-21 European Championship last year, the Spanish player may well be tempted by the prospect of winning silverware at club level with Real Madrid.
