London club legend John Terry says Jadon Sancho would be a great signing to Frank Lampard’s squad, though admits the Borussia Dortmund winger will have much contest from Chelsea’s young guns. Jadon looks ready to leave Germany this summer and return to England, with Blues battling rivals Man United and Liverpool for his signature.
Sancho has 14 goals and 16 assists in the Bundesliga this campaign in a remarkable season and John is in no doubt about his quality, though he feels Chelsea’s teenagers have shown they can step up.
Asked about a possible move for England international, and whether London club already have enough young talent, Terry said: ‘I think the young lads have shown their potential. ‘We spoke at the start of the season about the likes of Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount coming into the team, and they’ve shown that they’re capable of playing.
‘But, listen, I think Sancho is probably one of the best young players in the world at the moment. So he’d be a great addition to Chelsea’s squad and make us better as well. ‘But as I said, the ones that have come through, Billy Gilmour, Tammy, Mason, Reece James, I mean, it’s endless isn’t it.
There have been so many positives this campaign come through. ‘I think every Blues supporter since I came through the ranks, that’s all Chelsea fans wanted to see: the youth team footballers and the young generation coming through and making their first-team debuts. And we’ve seen this in abundance this season.’
