Juventus have reportedly been in negotiations with the London club in the final hours of the transfer window as they work towards a loan deal for defender Emerson Palmieri. Chelsea are easing their stance on Italy international and some of their other unwanted squad footballers as they look to offload some names before tonight’s deadline.
The Bianconeri have also been interested in the Blues other left-back Marcos Alonso, but the report suggests a deal for Emerson is looking closer. Chelsea supporters will hope their club doesn’t only make sales or send footballers out on loan today, as there’s arguably still room to improve the English manager’s squad.
It’s been a busy summer for the Blues, but they’re still a little short of quality in back-line and perhaps in defensive midfield as well. Palmieri has featured on two occasions for Blues in the EFL Cup this campaign but has not been in the squad for any of their four PL encounters.
The Italian defender’s future has been the subject of much speculation in recent months, with the left-back said to be keen on a come back to Serie A before the end of the transfer window. Old Lady have been in negotiations with the defender’s agent and are hopeful of securing a loan deal before the deadline.
Emerson Palmieri has recently played in Serie A for Palermo and Roma, representing the latter on 47 occasions in all tournaments before securing a move to Chelsea. The left-back has little over 18 months left to run on his deal with the London giants.
