It appears Milan are desperate for defensive reinforcements amid worries over the overall quality of their defensive unit and their lack of adaptability to a back-four. As a result, the Rossoneri has identified many footballers around Europe that could emerge as key targets, including Antonio Rudiger.
The London giants centre-back is facing an unknown future at Chelsea, and with his deal expiring at the end of the campaign, he will be available to negotiate a pre-contract agreement in winter. Formerly of Roma, Germany international has been one of the most successful centre-backs in world football in 2021.
Since the appointment of the German coach as manager, Rudiger has established himself as one of the finest in the PL, notably helping the club win the UCL last term. Despite such success at Chelsea, the former Dortmund youth footballer is reportedly unhappy with the Blues after disagreements over a new contract.
It has already put a host of top teams around Europe on alert, with the Rossoneri joining an elite list that includes the likes of Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid. Milan’s interest in Antonio stems from their recent run of form.
Milan have suffered back to back defeats in Serie A to Fiorentina and Sassuolo, conceding seven goals in the process. Recent speculations suggest the Blues are prepared to ward off interest from the suitors by offering a bumper new contract for the German defender.
