Inter Milan are reportedly considering a swoop for Red Devils midfielder Nemanja Matic this July with his current deal set to expire. It has been suggested that Serbia international wants to extend his stay at Man United, but no talks have taken place as of yet between the two sides over a new agreement, contrary to claims made by Solskjaer.
It comes as Nemanja has played 17 matches so far this campaign, with his experience and quality becoming useful for the Norwegian manager particularly after the injuries suffered by Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.
In turn, it stays to be seen whether or not his form this year will convince the Red Devils coach and hierarchy to offer new terms to ensure he stays with Man United moving forward. If a deal can’t be reached, Nerazzurri are seemingly waiting in the wings to make their move to snap Matic up on a free transfer.
The Serie A giants have seemingly taken a liking to do business with the Red Devils, having signed Alexis, Lukaku and Ashley Young from them since last summer.
With relations between the two sides strong, that could perhaps help in negotiations with the 31-year-old midfielder over an exit from Old Trafford, but time will tell if a deal renewal is put on the table firstly which could result in the Serbian midfielder committing his future to Old Trafford instead.
Inter Milan do seem well ready in midfield though with Gagliardini, Matias Vecino, Stefano Sensi, Valero, Barella, Eriksen, Marcelo Brozovic and others all offering Conte options in that department.
