The London club have turned down a bid from Inter Milan for N’Golo Kante, with the Nerazzurri open to including Christian Eriksen or Marcelo Brozovic in any possible deal for the midfielder. France international had an injury-ravaged campaign last term and played only 22 games for Chelsea in the PL under the English manager.
Antonio Conte, who won the PL trophy with N’Golo back in 2017, has been keen for the player to join him at the San Siro ahead of the 2020/21 season and the Nerazzurri are refusing to give up their pursuit without a fight.
Inter Milan have explored a potential loan deal for Kante and also lodged an audacious bid to sign the midfielder outright which included Croatian star Brozovic.
But Serie A giants has been unsuccessful with their attempts to land the 29-year-old player thus far. Their latest bid involving Brozovic was swiftly rejected and Blues has made it clear they have no interest in a deal including ex-Spurs attacker Eriksen after Nerazzurri insinuated the Danish star was available in exchange for Frenchman this summer.
Inter Milan may still come back with another offer for the World Cup-winner but this will only be feasible if they are able to raise funds through footballer sales. Chelsea manager said in June he wanted to keep N’Golo and Antonio Conte knows it will not be easy to prise the French midfielder from his old club.
Chelsea are also closing in on a deal for Stade Rennais shot-stopper Edouard Mendy, with Kepa Arrizabalaga’s future up in the air after a miserable season between the sticks at Stamford Bridge.
