Inter Milan in pole position to sign £100,000-a-week Chelsea defender

Blues have reportedly set an asking price of €30m for Marcos Alonso. Spain international has featured in 19 games under Frank Lampard this campaign so far, netting four goals and providing three assists. Marcos has been linked to Inter Milan lately as he is the Serie A side’s top transfer target.

London club are demanding €30m for Alonso. This report also claims that Nerazzurri want to sign the 29-year-old left-back because Cristiano Biraghi and Victor Moses could leave during the summer. Alonso has played 139 games for Blues across all tournaments since joining them from Fiorentina, netting 22 goals and providing 17 assists so far.

The Spanish defender hasn’t been a regular starter for a major part of the campaign with Frank preferring Emerson and Cesar Azpilicueta for a while. However, Alonso has done pretty well for Blues in the last two Premier League games, netting three goals. Hence, there is a good opportunity for the London club, not wanting him to leave.

Provided Nerazzurri do manage to sign Marcos, he would play as a left midfielder under Antonio Conte. Inter Milan have impressive consequences in the Serie A this campaign as they are in a third place in the table. Serie A giants added Ashley Young from Man United, Victor Moses from Chelsea and Christian Eriksen from Tottenham in winter.

Nerazzurri signed several footballers during the summer transfer window like Romalu Lukaku from Man United, Valentino Lazaro from Hertha, Alexis Sanchez from Man United, Nicolo Barella from Cagliari, Stefano Sensi from Sassuolo, Cristiano Birgahi from Fiorentina, Diego Godin from Atletico Madrid and Gabriel Brazao from Parma.
