Man United can win the PL title next campaign if they manage to pull off the signing of England captain Harry Kane. That’s the view of ex-Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, who believes whichever club manages to bag England international this summer will win the title next term.
Harry saw another chance of winning silverware slip away on Sunday as Man City beat Spurs 1-0 in the Carabao Cup final. Kane is believed to be keen on leaving Tottenham this summer but he has three years to run on his deal in north London and the club value him at nearly £150m.
Though Tottenham are unlikely to sell, that won’t stop the likes of Man United and Man City from testing the club’s resolve to keep him. Man City are already favourites to win next campaign’s title, with Pep Guardiola’s men on the cusp of winning the league for the third time in five years.
But Redknapp believes Red Devils could leapfrog their city rivals with the arrival of the 27-year-old centre-forward. ‘There’s nobody better than Harry Kane,’ said Redknapp. ‘I wouldn’t swap him for any centre-forward in the world, personally.’
‘He would guarantee Man City, Man United or Liverpool winning the league next season, for sure. He’s a fantastic player. Tottenham have to keep him.’ With Tottenham unlikely to sell to a direct rival, United and City are both looking at Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian manager is averaging a goal-a-game in his 18 months in Germany but the Bundesliga giants are open to selling him this summer as a £62m release clause becomes active in his deal next summer.
