Gunners held negotiations with £60m-rated South American star

Arsenal keeping tabs with Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez and planning to make a bid during the summer transfer window. London club need a new prolific playmaker to improve the front-line, and Colombia international is the perfect option in this situation. He has an excellent campaign and proves his worth one more time.

Unai Emery set to spend big money on the footballer in July when the transfer window opens again. Bayern Munich, Man United, Juventus, Napoli and Liverpool are also keen to sign him, and there will be a contest for the player. Rodriguez joined the Bavarians from the Spanish club in 2017 with a two season-long loan deal.

He became a key figure for the club and scored many vital goals since joining. In this season, James already played 26 matches, scored seven goals and made six assists in all competition. It is an impressive result, and he can do much more during this campaign.

The 27-year-old midfielder’s release clause is nearly €60m which is a decent price for such a prolific playmaker. He is a regular member of the national team and also helped them to reach the playoff in the 2018 Mundial, but after losing in a penalty shoot-out against England, they kicked out from the tournament.

Gunners will do everything to add him this summer as Mesut Ozil is in terrible form, Aaron Ramsey joined Juventus, Granit Xhaka linked with several clubs, and they need back-up. English club heavily linked with Lille forward Nicolas Pepe, Cagliari youngster Nicolo Barella and Roma starlet Nicolo Zaniolo.
