The London giants manager Frank Lampard says Christian Pulisic will be assessed in the next 24 hours after sustaining a calf injury in his side’s 1-0 victory over Leicester City. Chelsea booked their path into the semi-finals of the FA Cup after Ross Barkley scored in the second half to set-up a tie with Man United.
Blues were well below-par in the first half and Frank made three substitutions at half-time in a bid to reverse his club’s fortunes. Christian has been Blues standout performer since the season resumed and the winger’s scored crucial goals with Man City and Aston Villa to aid the club’s bid for a top-four spot.
Blues take on rivals at West Ham United at the London Stadium on Wednesday and Frank says Pulisic could be a doubt after he felt pain in his calf. ‘He felt tightness in his calf during the second drinks break so I took him off straight away,’ said Frank. ‘We’ll see in the next day.’
Frank made several changes, starting the likes of Reece James, Billy Gilmour and Tammy Abraham. Andreas Christensen was a notable absentee from the victory with Man City and Frank says a hip problem kept the Dane out. ‘Andreas had a problem in his hip,’ said Frank Lampard.
‘He didn’t feel comfortable in training yesterday so he was out of the squad.’ The 21-year-old winger has been decisive since the PL’s return this month and his recovery from injury, having scored in 2-1 victories over Aston Villa and Man City in the last week.
