Merseyside club have been handed some good news ahead of their match with Newcastle United this weekend after it was reported that the Magpies could be without as many as eight first-team footballers for the game. It is terrible news for Newcastle United fans.
Reds will be taking on Newcastle at Anfield this weekend, as Liverpool look to keep up their 100% start to the campaign with a win over Steve Bruce’s men. And ahead of the game, it looks like Magpies are undergoing somewhat of an injury crisis, as Newcastle could be missing as many as eight first-team footballers for the match.
Magpies have concerns over the fitness levels of Fabian Schar and Miguel Almiron, as both been on international duty this recent couple of weeks. Should Almiron and Schar be unavailable for the game, they’ll be joining Dwight Gayle, Allan Saint-Maximin, Andy Carroll, Matt Ritchie and two other unnamed footballers on the treatment table.
Should Newcastle United be missing eight footballers for their match with the Merseyside club, Liverpool will go into the clash as clear favourites, if they weren’t favourites already. Liverpool have struggled somewhat with the Magpies in recent years, with Reds winning only four of their last eight matches with them in recent years.
However, given this news regarding the Magpies injury crisis, we highly doubt the Merseyside club will be doing anything other than taking home all three points with Bruce’s men on Saturday afternoon. Newcastle United signed several players past summer like Joelinton from Hoffenheim and Allan Saint-Maximin from Nice.
