Man United long-term target Ante Rebic signed a new contract with Eintracht Frankfurt and he won’t join the Red Devils in this summer. Mourinho wanted to strengthen the attack during the transfer window but Man United bosses bought no one. Rebic was the favourite target for Portuguese manager as he had an excellent season in Bundesliga and even better performances in the World Cup where his team won the silver medals.
In this season Ante made 37 appearances, scored 10 goals and made 2 assists in all competition. Now Croatia international is contracted with the German club until 2022 and his release clause is nearly €45m. The 24-year-old scored an important goal against Argentina and played impressively during the Mundial. Bayern also wanted to sign him but negotiations failed.
Man United have serious problems in attack and they need several high-class wingers to improve the front-line. Red Devils signed Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant in this transfer window. This isn’t enough for the club as they want to fight for the titles next campaign. The negotiations with Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and PSG star Marco Verratti also failed.
