€30m-rated player decided to stay in the club amid Gunners interest

Barcelona playmaker Rafinha Alcantara prefers to remain in Spain and play for Barcelona next season. During the summer several big clubs like Inter and Arsenal were interested to sign him but Brazil international chose the Catalan club. Emery wanted to strengthen the front-line but negotiations with the footballer failed.

Alcantara is a product of Blaugrana youth academy and spent most of his career in La Liga but last season he was loaned in Inter and played perfectly in Serie A. Italian club wanted to keep the player but he refused to join Nerazzurri. Rafinha contracted with Barcelona until 2020 and his release clause is around €30m. Gunners added Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi in this transfer window but it isn’t enough for the Spanish manager. Arsenal midfield need improvement and Brazilian player was the best option for the club. Now Unai has to use existing resource in this season. The London club planning to renew negotiations with the footballer in January.
