Sadio Mane has promised Reds supporters he will lift more titles with Liverpool after they clinched their first league title in 30 years. The Merseyside giants are officially Premier League champions for the first time in their history, but that hasn’t stopped transfer speculation about Senegal international’s future.
Los Blancos have repeatedly been linked with Sadio in the last year, but winger hinted he is planning a long stay with the Merseyside giants.
‘I think this is another step for all of us in our career for what we want to achieve because as football players you have to be always professional and always hungry in a good way to win everything,’ Mane said.
‘I think we have a great team, great staff and the club is amazing, so we have another step and big things to achieve so we won’t stop here.’ Zizou is thought to be a massive fan of the 28-year-old winger, who has scored 17 times in all tournaments for the Reds this campaign.
Like a lot of clubs, La Liga giants transfer plans are expected to be affected by the ongoing covid19 pandemic and it appears unlikely they will be able to lure Sadio away from Liverpool anytime soon. The Senegalese star joined Reds from Southampton in 2016 in a big-money deal and won the UCL last campaign with Liverpool.
While the title might be wrapped up with seven matches to spare, Reds are aiming to break a few more records before the season ends. Liverpool are aiming to surpass Man City’s record points tally and take on Pep Guardiola’s side on Thursday. Sadio admitted creating more history was important to the squad.
