Dwight Yorke has urged Red Devils to sign Jadon Sancho and says a top-quality centre-back is also required if the Norwegian manager plans to challenge for the PL title next campaign.
Man United have made the 20-year-old forward their first-choice transfer target ahead of the summer, although whether they will be willing to meet Bundesliga giants’ £100m valuation in the post-coronavirus landscape stays to be seen.
Jadon has developed into one of the most coveted footballers in world football at BVB and Yorke says his arrival at Man United would benefit the rest of the squad. But Man United hero hopes Sancho is not the only new addition to arrive through the doors at the club and says Ole needs a new defender to compete with Liverpool next campaign.
‘Sancho is a terrific talent and he’s linked with every top team around the world,’ Yorke said. ‘So, if Ole sees him as a player that can really bring something to the team and really make sure that core of players keeps competition for places, then they should go for it.’
‘It would force other players to get their skates on and start performing. That’s a healthy thing and that’s what you want to see at Man United. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a player the club add going forward.’
Yorke also allayed fears England international’s possible move to the Old Trafford would hurt Mason Greenwood’s development at the club. Greenwood is enjoying a breakthrough campaign at the Old Trafford, scoring 14 goals in 41 matches.
