Dimitar Berbatov has tipped Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz to replace Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge. The Blues, Red Devils and Merseyside club have all expressed interest in signing Germany international ahead of the summer transfer window.
Ex-Man United and Tottenham centre-forward has heaped praise on Kai and says he could replace Hazard at Chelsea. Belgian attacker Hazard, who scored more than 100 goals for Blues and helped Chelsea win two PL trophies, was sold to Real Madrid last summer.
Dimitar said: ‘I think it is interesting to see Blues linked with Kai, they haven’t really replaced Eden since he left and it was always going to be challenging to do so.
‘I think for sure they need to go for a youngster with a lot of football ahead of them, if that is the case, then they will also have to be patient as well because sometimes teenagers need time to adjust to the physicality and speed of Premier League.’
‘Kaiis an option for them, but it has just been the first week back of the Bundesliga, and I hope that Kai continues to the way he has come back, by scoring and producing the goals that Havertz has done so far.’
Dimitar added: ‘Kai has great quality and Havertz will become even better in the future. ‘I was so pleased to see, not only Kai but the Bayer Leverkusen team return really strong in their win over Werder Bremen.’
‘Kai needs to get used to the sounds that are being made about him following his two goals on Monday night because teams are going to come after Havertz.’
