According to stories in France, Liverpool are close to agreeing on a deal for Thomas Lemar, the Monaco man wanted by Arsene Wenger and Arsenal.
The winger was, as you know, close to joining Arsenal in the excellent summer mess that saw City leave their Alexis offer until the last minute, meaning Arsenal couldn’t push through a wildly overpriced deal for the Frenchman.
Since then, however, Liverpool have been the side most strongly linked with the 22-year-old who turned down a new deal in France.
The report, as reported by The Sun, who got it from Le 10 Sport, is not coming from reliable sources (Le 10 are France’s version of The S*n by all accounts) however that doesn’t mean they aren’t on the right track anyway.
With his price tag still around £90m and The Gunners likely to miss out on Champions League football once again, it’s tough to see the North Londoners splashing this sort of cash on another attacking footballer when the rest of their squad is such a failure.
