David Seaman has urged the Spanish manager to recruit Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha, a footballer targeted by ex-Arsenal coach Unai Emery. Since leaving the London giants last December, Emery has revealed he wanted to bring in Ivory Coast international ahead of £72m record addition Nicolas Pepe in the summer of 2019.
Nicolas has struggled to live up to expectations following his mega-money move from Lille and subsequently fallen down the pecking order under the Spanish manager. Meanwhile, Wilfried has continued to shine for the Eagles and already found the back of the net five times in the PL this campaign.
Zaha has recently admitted that it was ‘amazing’ to hear of the Gunners interest in him last summer. And Arsenal legend Seaman advised his former side, who have scored only 10 league goals this season, to sign the 28-year-old, ‘I think Zaha would be a good addition to Arsenal because he’s a proven goal-scorer,’ Seaman said.
‘I don’t know the reason why it hasn’t happened as he obviously wants to come. Whether it’s the agents and clubs not agreeing on certain things, that must be the reason, but he’s made it clear that he wants to come as he’s an Arsenal fan. He would be a good addition to the squad, no doubt at all.’
The Gunners are languishing in 14th place in the table after accruing only 13 points from their opening 10 matches this campaign. They face Rapid Vienna next in the UEL on Thursday, before their big PL match with bitter rivals Tottenham this weekend.
