Chelsea Transfer Rumours: Hunt for Croatian attacker, Slovakian defender on the radar, Leading race for French centre-back

Tottenham determined to sign €20m-rated Chelsea transfer target

The battle to add Ivan Perisic is hotting up with new teams joining the fray. Although Inter Milan are determined to keep hold of the player by offering a contract extension, Croatia international is more than likely to leave the club at the end of the campaign on a free transfer. Juventus are believed to be the frontrunners in the pursuit of Perisic.

But Tottenham have recently joined the battle, whereas fellow PL teams Chelsea and Newcastle United are also in contention to add Ivan. The 33-year-old winger had played under the tutelage of the Tottenham manager Antonio Conte last campaign, during their time together at San Siro.

The Croatian defender was quite an asset for Inter Milan on the left-hand side, slotting in effortlessly in Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 formation. With four goals and five assists, his contributions on the far side were critical in helping Inter Milan break Juventus’ hegemony in Italian football.

Antonio Conte is hoping to repeat the success at Tottenham by roping in Ivan Perisic in the summer. The Tottenham coach is not happy with Reguilon and wants to offload the Spaniard at the end of the campaign.

He believes Ivan Perisic could be a like for like replacement, as he values the Croatian attacker’s experience and versatility out wide. The Blues, for one, have entertained the prospect of signing the veteran, as a possible replacement for Marcos Alonso, amid speculations linking the Spanish defender to a move to Barcelona.

Inter Milan are facing a battle to keep hold of Milan Skriniar. Slovakia international is facing an uncertain future at San Siro, with his current contract expiring at the end of the next campaign. It has put several teams on red alert, including clubs from the PL.

The list is led by Man United and Tottenham, while Chelsea have entered the fray as well, hoping to add Skriniar on a cut-price contract at the end of the campaign. The Nerazzurri will undoubtedly have to sanction the sale of Milan in the summer if they fail to agree to new terms with the centre-back.

After handing Nicolo Barella a lucrative contract back in November of last year, the Nerazzurri are planning similar terms for the 27-year-old defender. They consider Barella a defensive leader, with the Slovakian centre-back having enjoyed immense success since his move from Sampdoria.

The Slovakian has already featured in over 200 competitive games for the Nerazzurri. His defensive partnership alongside de Vrij and Bastoni has been critical behind the club’s success in recent years, including the Scudetto-winning season last term.

Chelsea’s interest in the former Sampdoria defender stems from the possible sale of defensive trifecta Christensen, Rudiger and Azpilicueta. It will leave a massive void in the club’s defensive unit, thus forcing the German tactician to target many top-class defenders in the market.

Chelsea believe Milan Skriniar has what it takes to help the club recover and serve as a defensive leader alongside Thiago Silva next campaign.

Chelsea are closing in on signing Jules Kounde from Sevilla, and the transfer could conclude as soon as the London club’s takeover is completed. The 23-year-old centre-back has reportedly agreed to personal terms and only wants to join the Blues.

The Blues have been chasing France international for the best part of twelve months. The German tactician was frustrated last summer as the transfer could not materialise. After the current campaign ends, Chelsea will have problems in their central defensive arsenal, one Thomas Tuchel would like to solve in the transfer window.

Rudiger is leaving for Real Madrid, while Christensen has an agreement with Barcelona. Azpilicueta and Alonso are also on the Blaugrana’s radar, and they could be allowed to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

It leaves a big gap in the Blues’ defensive unit, as Thomas Tuchel is left with the inexperienced duo Chalobah and Sarr in central defence along with the ageing Thiago Silva. The German coach wants high profile options ahead of the next campaign, but all transfer activities are affected by Chelsea’s takeover issues.

The takeover may conclude in the coming weeks, and after that, the Blues could finalise a move for Jules. The Blues have reportedly agreed on personal terms with Kounde, something Andreas Korssund has confirmed. Jules could fit in perfectly at Chelsea and should slot straight into Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the next campaign.
