UCL giants eager to sign 24-year-old Chelsea long-term target
Bayern Munich are the latest team to express an interest in securing the signing of Stuttgart defender Borna Sosa. The 24-year-old left-back is also being pursued by Barcelona, Chelsea and Man United.
Borna came through the youth ranks at Dinamo Zagreb and played 41 senior games before joining the Bundesliga club in the summer of 2018. Since his arrival, Sosa has been a regular on the left side of the back-line for the club and has featured over 80 times for the Swabians.
Croatia international has enjoyed a particularly productive 2021/22 season, even though the German club find themselves mired in the battle for survival in the Bundesliga. So far this term, the Croatian defender has played 29 games across all tournaments, scoring two goals and chalking up nine assists.
His displays have led to widespread interest from teams around Europe, with Barcelona, Man United and Chelsea keen. The Blues’ need for a new defender stem from the uncertainty surrounding Marcos Alonso’s future. With Chilwell injured, the Spanish defender has been a regular starter.
But with his deal expiring next year, an exit in the summer is a strong possibility, especially with Alonso desiring a move to Barcelona. It would leave the Blues light on options at left-back, making the Croatian a viable target.
With as many as four European clubs lining up to sign the former Dinamo Zagreb defender in the summer, a transfer looks very much likely. It will be interesting to see who among Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Chelsea, and Man United come out on top in the battle to sign the left-back.
Chelsea renewed interest in 24-year-old Ivory Coast international
Chelsea have become the latest team to be linked with a move for Ibrahim Sangare. PSV midfielder has become one of the most in-demand footballers in the market, with many expecting him to move to a bigger team at the end of the campaign.
The Blues have joined a long list of teams tracking the progress of Ivory Coast international. Sangare is considered one of the best midfielders in the Eredivisie, which is why PSV are unlikely to settle for any less than £30m for his services this summer.
Formerly of Toulouse, Ibrahim is a loved figure in the football analytics department due to his all-around abilities. A defensive midfielder by trade, the 24-year-old footballer, is proficient at winning the ball back for his team while being technically astute enough to distribute possession all around the park.
The Ivorian midfielder also offers the aggression and work ethic in the middle of the park, making the footballer quite an asset in the second line of press. His qualities could be ideally suited to Thomas Tuchel’s tactical setup, with the German manager particularly desperate to add more options to his defensive unit.
The Ivorian could be an excellent replacement for the Blues’ vice-captain. At only 24, the African midfielder might not offer as much experience or composure, but he has the mobility, work-ethic and defensive nous to become a successful number six in Thomas Tuchel’s setup. Luring the former Toulouse midfielder from PSV, though, could be a tricky task for the Blues.
Barcelona keen on signing €45m-rated Chelsea transfer target
Barcelona have a strong interest in signing Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Blaugrana will make a serious effort to add Senegal international in the coming days. Kalidou has been with Napoli since 2014 when he arrived from Genk.
Over the past eight years, Koulibaly has established himself as one of the most reliable defenders around Europe. The 30-year-old defender has been linked with an exit from the Italian club for several transfer windows now, but Napoli’s prohibitive price tag has prevented teams from making a move.
However, the Senegalese centre-back’s current deal with Napoli expires at the end of the next campaign, meaning he will enter the final year of his contract in the summer. And with deal negotiations not going as planned, the Senegalese could be on the move at the end of the campaign, with the Catalan giants emerging as a suitor.
La Liga giants already have a deal in place to strengthen their back-line with the signing of Christensen from Chelsea. However, question marks linger over the futures of Lenglet, Umtiti and Mingueza. Furthermore, Pique has been struggling with injuries of late and will slowly need to be ushered out of the first-team setup.
The BLues are ready to lose Christensen to Barcelona in the summer, while Rudiger is also poised to join Real Madrid on a Bosman deal. With Azpilicueta also linked with the Blaugrana, there will be vacancies in the defensive department at Chelsea.
