The London club have the first refusal on signing Moussa Dembele this summer, according to reports. Chelsea tried to sign U21 France international in January from Ligue 1 giants, but the Les Gones refused to part ways with their centre-forward mid-way through the campaign.
However, French giants are prepared to cash in on Moussa in the next transfer window, and the London club will have the first refusal on the centre-forward. Man United are keen to sign Dembele after their campaign was plagued by a lack of cover upfront.
Frank Lampard and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are searching for a young centre-forward to lead their line and challenge their established No.1 frontman. The 23-year-old centre-forward has scored goals regularly throughout his senior career and has registered 16 strikes in 24 Ligue 1 matches this campaign.
Ligue 1 giants could demand as much as £60m for the French centre-forward and Chelsea will have the opportunity to snap him up before their rivals. Frank Lampard is plotting a big window after the London giants failed to sign a single footballer in January when their transfer ban lifted.
The Blues have already secured their first signing of the summer after it was announced that Hakim Ziyech would join Chelsea from Ajax once the season was over. Blues have been linked with a host of names, including Bayern Munich shot-stopper Manuel Neuer and Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho.
However, clubs’ transfer plans this summer appear set to be disrupted by the ongoing Covid19 pandemic. Football is currently suspended in England, and the suggestion is the postponed games will be played during the summer months.
