Chelsea renewed negotiations with €25m-rated Albania international

London club could land long-term target Elseid Hysaj for free next summer after seeing their €50m bid scuppered by Napoli in 2018. Blues could sign Albania international on a free transfer next summer. Giuffredi also claimed that Chelsea failed to add him with a €50m bid in 2018.

Elseid has made steady progress since joining Napoli from Empoli in the summer of 2015, having followed Maurizio Sarri to San Paolo. Over the last four years, Hysaj has been a consistent performer for the Partenopei but has seen his stock drop somewhat, having had to share playing time with Kevin Malcuit and Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

This campaign, the 25-year-old defender has featured just four times, and things look to have reached a head. The Albanian right-back’s agent has suggested that a departure from Napoli is imminent, which looks to have given the Blues, who had a €50m for the footballer being knocked back in the summer of 2018, a major boost in his pursuit.

London club hold a long-standing interest in Elseid, having made several attempts to add him in previous windows. In fact, widespread reports in the summer of 2018 had claimed that Hysaj would follow Maurizio Sarri for a second time, this time to Stamford Bridge, like Jorginho that summer.

But, a move failed to materialise, and Chelsea have not had the chance to make another move for him due to the two-window ban imposed on them by FIFA. With the ban ending next summer, Blues can begin to plan their signings. With Azpilicueta now 30, he could be the footballer to take the Spaniard’s place in the Blues first-team setup.
