Chelsea ready to pay €40m for La Liga defender

Chelsea enter talks to sign Atletico Madrid defender Stefan Savic. Summer transfer window opened and Blues started negotiations with their targets. 27-year-old spent three seasons in Madrid after joining the club from Fiorentina in 2015.  Savic played 36 games in this season and Diego Simeone didn’t use him on Europa League final against Marseille.

Atletico Madrid already signed defensive midfielder Rodri and Monaco winger Thomas Lemar. Antoine Griezmann is heavily linked with Barcelona and in high probability, he will leave Wanda Metropolitano this summer. Montenegrin defender had an impressive season in La Liga and with 27 appearances he helped Atletico to finish the competition in second place.

Savic has experience in Premier League as he played in Man City squad before moving in Fiorentina.  After three successful years in Serie A, Savic joined Atletico Madrid and become more prolific defender under Diego Simeone. David Luiz probably leaves Chelsea and Savic will be the perfect replacement. Besides Chelsea, Juventus are keen on to add Montenegrin defender as Chiellini and Barzagli soon will retire. Savic price is around €40m and this won’t be a problem for Abramovich, who is still Chelsea’s owner despite his problems with UK government.
