Spurs are reportedly eyeing a raid on Blues this summer as Jose Mourinho eyes a reunion with Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma to strengthen his defensive options. Tottenham have conceded 44 goals in their 33 PL matches so far this campaign, giving them the second-worst defensive record of the top 10 clubs in the standings.
That said, the London giants have the joint-worst having conceded 46, and so they will perhaps be considering defensive reinforcements of their own to try and shore things up at the back as they continue to battle to secure the UCL qualification.
However, it’s suggested that Jose Mourinho could look for a solution that is familiar to him, with Kurt said to be on Spurs transfer radar and they are also said to be confident of getting a deal done with their London rivals while a £25m offer is being touted.
The French defender has been a crucial figure for Frank Lampard this campaign as he has featured 36 times, but given the porous back-line that they have struggled with all campaign, it remains to be seen if the Blues manager will be tempted to sell and use those funds to bring in a replacement to help solidify his defence.
As for Tottenham, they’ll possibly have a void to fill this summer with stalwart Jan Vertonghen’s deal ready to expire, and so Kurt could be drafted in with that in mind. Time will tell if a deal can be done, as ultimately there is arguably also the question of whether or not Blues would be willing to allow their footballer to join and bolster a direct rival.
