Chelsea planning shock move for No.9 Nigeria international

Victor Osimhen is starting to become one of the most sought-after footballers in the transfer market, with the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Man United among the teams interested in signing the centre-forward.

Nigeria international joined Napoli from Lille in the summer of 2020, with the Partenopei beating a lot of European bigwigs to secure his services. Osimhen, though, did not start brightly at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, experiencing a lot of teething problems.

However, after ending 2021/22 strongly, Victor has carried his momentum into the new campaign. So far in the ongoing campaign, the 22-year-old striker has garnered a return of six goals and an assist in six matches across all tournaments.

Suffice to say, his exploits are starting to get noticed by some of the biggest teams in Europe once again, with the likes of Los Blancos, Blues and Man United among those that are hot on his trails.

The Blues’ pursuit of the Nigerian centre-forward, though, is surprising, considering they brought in a long-term solution to lead their line in the form of Lukaku this past summer. And despite the unknown future that Timo Werner is facing, it is hard to see how the African striker will be able to be a regular for Chelsea.

And with the competition for his services increasing with every electric display, it will be interesting to see if the Partenopei can keep hold of the striker next summer.
