Chelsea have made an enquiry to land Brazilian star Emerson Palmieri from Roma, stories say.
Antonio Conte was eager to secure a left-back during the summer transfer window, however, failed to bring his number one target, Alex Sandro, to Stamford Bridge.
The ex Italy manager remains keen to bolster his options in that position, however, with Juventus battling hard to keep Sandro at the club, he has been forced to look at alternative options.
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, the reigning Premier League giants have contacted Roma to ask about the chance of signing 23-year-old Palmieri.
Having only just recovered from serious damage, the Brazilian has played only two appearances for Roma this campaign but is no stranger to speculation.
The Reds have repeatedly been linked with a move for Palmieri over the past two transfer windows, while Juventus have shown interest in signing the former Palermo ace.
Chelsea finalised a £15million deal for Ross Barkley earlier in the month, and Conte has claimed he wants the club to secure further signings to reinforce his squad as the Blues effort to make up ground on Premier League leaders Manchester City.
Alexis Sanchez will not be the subject of interest from Chelsea, but, with Conte saying they were out of the race to land Arsenal’s contract rebel, who is expected to move to Manchester United.
“Yes, yes, Now, this is not important to talk about Sanchez.
“Not important. Because he’s not our good problem, so why do I have to waste words on nothing.” – Conte claimed when asked whether Chelsea was out of the race for Sanchez.
