London club coach insists N’Golo Kante stays a key part of his plans and midfielder could feature in a new-look squad alongside two of the surprise stars of Blues campaign. The 28-year-old midfielder has been restricted to only six games in all tournaments this term with the player has struggled with a series of knee and ankle problems.
In his absence, the likes of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic have resurrected their Blues careers after struggling to adapt to the demands of PL football during their debut seasons under Maurizio Sarri.
The trio have just started one Premier League game together this campaign, but Frank sees no reason why they cannot form an effective midfield duo shortly.
Asked if N’Golo, Jorginho and Kovacic could play together, Frank said: ‘You can play them, and I think one thing we have done this year is trying to be adaptable. ‘That can mean a change in personnel or the shape of the team. There are lots of parts to a midfield game, and there’s not one of them who is only a No.10, or he can only do that.
‘They can all do a lot, so in the season of how they rotate and work together I think it’s something that we always work on.’ France international was an unused substitute in Blues astonishing 4-4 draw with Ajax in last night’s Champions League encounter. Still, English coach hinted his return to the starting line-up was imminent.
Frank added: ‘Kante is a fantastic footballer and N’Golo is one of those I was so excited to work with when I came in because as a Blues fan I’ve admired him from afar.
