Chelsea leading race to sign €25m-rated Mexico international

The agent of Jesus Corona has confirmed negotiations have taken place with Blues with a view to a possible summer transfer. Chelsea offered one-year extensions to Giroud and Caballero last week but their two most experienced forwards, Willian and Pedro, still appear destined to leave the club at the end of the campaign once their deals expire.

Blues boss is said to be an admirer of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, a boyhood Chelsea fan, but the BVB £120m asking price is likely to force Chelsea to look elsewhere. Reports claimed that Blues had identified Mexico international as a possible alternative and his agent, Matias Bunge has revealed discussions have already taken place.

‘At some point, we talked to them. I can’t say if he’s option A, B or C, now they are rather talks, Matias Bunge said. ‘We’ll have to wait a bit for this to continue moving forward and for the leagues to begin again, and from there see what the next movements will be because the market is a little bit stopped.’

‘He has two years left on his deal. He did awaken a lot of interest for his participation in this particular competition, which has been excellent and at a high level. But now with the current situation of the covid pandemic, everything has slowed down a bit, now the signings are in quarantine.’

Jesus could represent a direct replacement for Willian who remains in a state of limbo with the London giants refusing to offer him the three-year deal he desires.
