Chelsea leading race to sign 21-year-old France international

The London giants are set to accelerate their efforts to try and secure the signing of Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, who is also a target for Juventus.

France international came through the youth ranks at French team Bordeaux and enjoyed a breakthrough a couple of years ago before making the switch to Les Monegasques in winter last year. Since then, Tchouameni has grown from strength to strength to become one of the best youngsters in Ligue 1.

Indeed, Aurelien was named Best Young Player of the Year for the 2020/21 campaign in France, and he has carried on in the same vein of form this campaign as well, which has facilitated a breakthrough into Les Bleus for the teenager.

And, his progress for club and country has not gone unnoticed as Chelsea and Juventus are pushing to sign the French midfielder.

The Blues have a fairly stocked midfield department when one factor in the footballers currently out on loan like Billy Gilmour, Conor Gallagher apart from the existing contingent of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho, Ruben Loftus-Cheek as well as deadline day arrival, Saul Niguez, although it stays to be seen if he is signed permanently.

Nevertheless, the Blues will need to add another central midfielder to their ranks soon as Kante has entered his thirties and has struggled with fitness problems quite a fair bit over the past year. Furthermore, his deal will also run out in the summer of 2023, meaning future-proofing the midfield department becomes imperative for Chelsea.
