The London giants preparations for the next campaign have already begun, as Roman Abramovich has garnered a lot of trust in the German manager since his arrival at Chelsea. Thomas Tuchel has ushered in a lot of sporting success in a short span of time and could play a critical role in Chelsea’s transfer plans in the summer.
One of the footballers targeted by the German tactician is former defensive protege Marquinhos, who had worked together with Thomas Tuchel during their time at PSG. The German boss had even installed Brazil international as PSG’s new captain, following Thiago Silva’s move to Chelsea last summer.
Marquinhos now works under Thomas Tuchel again at Chelsea, although he has not been involved in much due to his injury problems. His advancing age, nonetheless, creates the need to strengthen Blues defensive unit, especially with Cesar Azpilicueta nearing the final phase of his career as well.
Thomas Tuchel, as a result, has set his sights on a world-class defender in the 26-year-old defender. The Brazilian defender has already impressed in his new role as the PSG captain, notably playing a crucial role in their UCL run, although his influence was not enough to help his team overcome the challenge of Man City.
At Chelsea, Marquinhos can not only have the chance to compete with Man City more often but also emerge as the face of the club’s defensive unit, alongside Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. His leadership at the back, coupled with aerial superiority are tailor-made assets for the physically astute nature of the PL.
