Chelsea keeping close tabs with 23-year-old Premier League defender

As Blues continue to get their transfer business done early, it appears that west London neighbours, Fulham, may hold the crucial to Chelsea getting a deal with Ben Chilwell over the line. England international has long been trailed by the English manager, and the defender may be able to be acquired for £50m this summer.

In order for Brendan Rodgers to agree to any switch for Ben, however, he’ll need a suitable replacement, and that’s where Cottagers enter the equation. Leicester City chief wants to sign Joe Bryan from the newly-promoted side, and it’s believed that be may be available for as little as £5m.

Having said that, surely his value will have gone up after his match-winning contribution at Wembley with Brentford in the Championship Play-Off final. Joe shares many of the same attributes as Ben, in that he has an eagerness to get forward and support his attackers, but is a top-class left-back first and foremost.

Scott Parker is unlikely to be too happy at losing any of his footballers before the start of a PL season that’s only five weeks away, but he may be persuaded to let Joe leave if he’s able to reinvest the funds elsewhere. If that doesn’t happen, then the sale makes no sense whatsoever for Fulham.

The advancement of talks appears to have come around after the footballer made it clear he wanted to join Frank Lampard’s side. The London giants will compete in the UCL next campaign and the 23-year-old defender feels his game can improve further by making the move south.
