Ashley Cole hopes the London giants can sign Bayer Leverkusen attacker Kai Havertz to the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech. Chelsea have been busy in the transfer market, already wrapping up deals for Timo from RB Leipzig and Hakim from Ajax to bolster their front-line.
Germany international is next on the agenda and reports claim that a five-year contract has been agreed with the playmaker. However, Bundesliga giants maintain that he will only be allowed to leave ‘if certain requirements are met’ as they hold out for their €100m price tag.
Chelsea hero Ashley Cole feels Kai will make his former side a force to be reckoned with next campaign and is happy with the work his former team-mate Frank Lampard has done. ‘Frank has had a brilliant first season and added two players, and maybe Havertz as well,’ Ashley Cole said.
‘Our attacking threat is amazing and the fans will be happy. Hopefully, they can add Kai to make their attacking threat even more potent. It is a young squad, with teenagers who have top quality and have played in top leagues being added. It’s good to see them at Chelsea and hopefully, they can quickly integrate into the team ahead of next season.’
Frank Lampard and Mikel Arteta met in the FA Cup final, showcasing the increased faith placed in young, inexperienced coaches, and Ashley who is now working as an academy boss at Chelsea is glad they are being given a chance. ‘As young coaches, you never know until you’re put in these situations,’ Cole added.
