Chelsea keep a close eye on 23-year-old Ligue 1 goal machine

London giants have reportedly been given a significant boost in the transfer of Moussa Dembele. Chelsea tried to add him in winter, but Lyon rejected their bid of £34m. However, a recent report states that Les Gones want Blues to make a move for U21 France international.

It has also been claimed that provided Moussa is signed, Giroud and Batshuayi could be sold. Currently valued at €50m, the centre-forward has done pretty well for Lyon this campaign so far, netting 22 goals while providing seven assists in 42 matches across all tournaments so now.

The Blues current backup centre-forwards include Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud, both of whom haven’t quite impressed this campaign so far. Someone like Dembele would be a perfect signing to the London club’s squad, and he could well provide some stiff contest to Tammy Abraham for a place in the starting line-up.

The 23-year-old centre-forward previously played a couple of matches in the Premier League for Fulham years back, and if he comes to England this time, we could well see him produce better displays. Chelsea boss is keen on bringing in better competition for centre-forward Tammy Abraham.

Tammy has had an excellent debut campaign for the London club, but Blues feel the French striker would be an ideal competition for the English centre-forward. London club tried to sign Moussa in the January window, but the Ligue 1 club rejected their £34m offer.

And while Ligue 1 giants insisted at the time that they were determined to not only keep the centre-forward during the January window they also had planned not to sell him in the summer.
