Chelsea joined by League rivals in race for £61.8m-rated Serbian

Liverpool have submitted a £24.7million offer for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as Jurgen Klopp looks to reinforce his midfield options, reports in Italy suggested.

Liverpool are in the market to add depth to their squad as they ready for a return to the Champions League, while also working to assemble a side who can challenge for the Premier League crown.

And Milinkovic-Savic has developed as a target, as reported by the Corriere Dello Sport.

The Serbian central midfielder had a fine campaign for the Serie A giants, netting seven goals and making seven assists in 39 appearances.

Bur, Lazio are keen to hang onto him and rejected the initial offer from the Reds, putting a £61.8million price tag on his head.

Chelsea, are also believed to be interested in the highly-rated midfielder. Antonio Conte sees him as a replacement for Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic.

Boss Simone Inzaghi is extreme to build a team around the 22-year-old, and club chief Claudio Lotito has told Liverpool to look elsewhere.

Lazio faces a fight to keep several of their top players at the Stadio Olimpico, with Stefan de Vrij and Keita Balde between those linked with an exit.
