Sergio Aguero has given the London giants a huge transfer advantage as he wants to stay in the PL after he leaves Man City, according to reports. The PL leaders announced earlier this week that Argentina international’s deal will not be renewed and the centre-forward will leave the club at the end of the campaign.
Sergio, who joined Man City for £35m in 2011, has established himself as one of the PL’s best-ever strikers and is in high demand ahead of the summer window. Barcelona are understood to be keen on pairing Aguero with his teammate Lionel Messi, while Inter and PSG are also keen on signing the centre-forward on a free transfer.
Chelsea are in ‘prime position’ to sign the 32-year-old striker at the end of the campaign as the Man City striker is ‘determined’ to continue playing in the PL. The report also claims that Man United and Liverpool are not in the race for the Argentine star, while Chelsea are keen to strengthen attacking options in the summer window.
Man City, meanwhile, are set to hold talks with Mino Raiola and Erling Haaland’s father, Alfe-Inge, over a deal for the Borussia Dortmund striker. Speaking about Aguero’s exit, Pep Guardiola said this week: ‘Sergio is irreplaceable.’
‘I could say in terms of numbers he can be replaceable, it’s not easy when you see more than 360 games played and more than 250 goals, the amount of titles… So it’s the legend, the best striker this club has ever had for this century through the years, but is irreplaceable in the souls, in the hearts, in the minds of our fans, of our people, of the players that played alongside him and all the managers who worked with him.’
